  • Where to Stay

When visiting this area, my friends always find the prettiest Airbnb’s but when I visited this summer, it was a short weekend getaway planed by my husband for my 40th birthday. Everything about it was perfect, he even booked a hotel I had my eye on…

Rivertown Lodge – An interior designer’s dream, with impeccable decor and the most incredible food (I still dream of the whole grain biscuit I ate at brunch, it was as big as my head) . But my favorite perk was being able to bring my dog along as they’re dog friendly!

  • Where to Eat

As previously mentioned, Rivertown Lodge has a delicious restaurant that is well worth the visit and open to the public, but during our short weekend visit, we had multiple memorable meals.

feast & floret – Offering an Italian-inspired menu made with seasonal and locally grown products. The food was delicious, the restaurant is beautiful and they also sell gorgeous bouquets of flowers so you can go home with a souvenir.

The Maker – Serving contemporary American fare in a beautiful glass conservatory surrounded by plants, this delicious restaurant (and hotel!) is worth the stop even to simply peek inside. During the warmer months, they also serve on the patio which is dog friendly.

Bartlett House – Before heading back home, or really on any morning when you’re craving a delicious breakfast, stop here for a cup of coffee and a mouth-watering ham and cheese croissant. Or grab a loaf of bread to put in your freezer for a rainy day.

Hudson Roastery – Our daily morning stop for my matcha and my husband’s mocha was a great place to chitchat with locals and meet their adorable pups.

W.M. Farmer & Sons – This was a recommendation but we couldn’t go because they’re not dog friendly :( We did walk by and it looked cozy and intimate so we’ll keep it on the list for next time.

  • What to Do

For those who love shopping, Warren Street is lined with wonderful shops. Here are some we popped into:

Magic Hill – Mid century curated furniture, home decor and art.

Antique Warehouse – the 300,000 sq ft building houses multiple shops that offer every style and period of furniture, lighting, architectural salvage and decorative accessories.

Finch – vintage furniture and a small collection of clothing.

The Quiet Botanist – They are listed as a health and beauty shop but they also have stunning dried flowers. So beautiful in fact, you can see some of their creations throughout the restaurant feast & floret.

For those who love the outdoors, history and art, here’s a couple of things I had on our list. Unfortunately we didn’t get to them because we ran out of time, but I will share nonetheless as they were recommendations from a friend:

Olana State Historic Site – The primary home of Frederic Church – one of the major figures in the Hudson River School of landscape painting – today it is a museum and is surrounded by 25 acres of beautiful landscape overlooking the river.

Hudson Pedestrian River Walk – The world's longest elevated pedestrian bridge.
